The Story
The Halloween remake follows the story of Michael Myers, a disturbed child who is sent to a sanitarium for the mentally unstable at the age of ten after brutally murdering his family, with the exception of his youngest sister whom he adores. Seventeen years later, he escapes from the sanitarium and goes looking for the only family member he has left. Rob Zombie has indicated that the Halloween remake will not be a direct reflection of the original, but will be a re-imagining updated to reflect the times and will include tons of new material.
Rob Zombie intends to revamp the image of Michael Myers with his Halloween remake, turning him more into a true psychopath rather than a wanderer with a blood lust. It will add deeper questions about the true nature and intentions of Michael Myers along with creating a more graphic, gory, and terrifying movie to ensnare the viewers. The Halloween remake will retain the signature mask and theme music for Michael Myers, who just wouldnt be complete without them.
The Production
The cast selected for the Halloween remake contains an eclectic mix of seasoned actors and unknown individuals. The title character will be played by Tyler Mane, with Clint Howard, Malcolm McDowell, and Sheri Moon Zombie all having roles in the film. The Halloween remake was shot in the same town that John Carpenter used in 1978 to film the original movie. Production of the Halloween remake started in January of 2007 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March, 2007. The original movie is a cult classic that has brought thrill to generations of Americans looking for a scary movie to keep them awake at night. Rob Zombie has proven himself to be a master of the horror genre with his films House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects. It will be interesting to see what he can do with a classic.
